A Parody of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding have inspired many people all over the world in many ways, from fashion to romanticism. This is the wedding of the century that makes everyone want to congratulate and give anything as a gift for them. This wedding also inspired 11 young men from St. Andrews who called themselves: “The Other Guys” to make a creative work as a wedding gift to Prince William and Kate. The 11 guys were making a music video titled: “Royal Romance” which specialized as an “Official Royal Wedding Video”.

This video is actually a parody of a Lady Gaga’s song: “Bad Romance “, which the lyrics were modified creatively by them. The lyrics tell the story of the Prince and the future Princess during their study at the St. Andrews, and a sad tale of the unrequited love for the bride-to-be. The singer longs for Kate’s affections, but Prince William is the one person standing in his way:
“I want you baby, you might be the one. The only problem, you’re Kate Middleton.”
The lyrics also said: “I want your lovin’ just get rid of the Prince, you and me could write a bad romance.”
Even though lyrics a little bit “naughty”, this video was absolutely NOT intended to insult or demean the couple.
“The video was simply made as a celebration of the wedding and to put a smile on people’s faces; we never envisioned such a positive and widespread response. We are absolutely delighted that ‘Royal Romance’ has reached so many; we just hope Kate likes it too!” Ollie Boesen, director of “Royal Romance,” said in the release.
Besides the interesting lyrics, the video clip is also very funny. By selecting the setting at St. Andrews and surrounding areas, they parodied the movements as well as featured in the Lady Gaga’s video clip.
The more interesting is: the music that accompanied the song is produced by the sound of their mouths. As mentioned in the release:
“Eleven guys, eleven voices, no instruments and one princess.”
Comments were flooding in, with one viewer writing, “This is one of the best things I’ve seen on YouTube in ages. Congratulations on a great job.”
Call the work brilliant, another asked, “Have Wills and Kate chosen a band for the wedding yet?”
Someone else suggested, “This should play on large video screens in Westminster Abbey during the wedding ceremony.”
And one Canadian viewer was so impressed that she proposed to the band.
Since 2004 the band — Henry Synge, Dave Borowsky, Ollie Boesen, Matthew Pattie, Andrew Pattie, Rob Baggott La Velle, Matt Hinckley, Mark Gregory, Richard Hanford, Iain Glen and Richard Phillips-has built up a large student following, performing at various events including the May Ball and its own sell-out concerts.
